On Saturday, May 12, 2012, the Nevada City Film Festival, Miners Foundry Cultural Center and Emily’s Catering and Cakes will present “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”, the 1961 classic romantic comedy film starring Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard, followed by a plentiful spread of scrumptious springtime hors d’oeuvres, plus live music, and lots of dancing!  “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” will be one the wildest night New York AND Nevada City ever knew!  Doors open at 4:30 p.m. with the film beginning at 5:00 p.m.  Tickets are $35.00 for Miners Foundry and Magic Lantern Film Society Members and $38.00 for Non Members.  Tickets are available online, at the Nevada City Box Office, (530) 265-5462, and Briar Patch.

In “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” struggling writer Paul Varjak (Peppard) moves into a New York apartment building and becomes intrigued by his pretty, quirky neighbor Holly Golightly (Hepburn). Holly’s lifestyle confuses and fascinates Paul; in public she flits through parties with a sexy, sophisticated air, but when they’re alone she changes into a sweetly vulnerable bundle of neuroses.  Truman Capote may have written “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” but it was Audrey Hepburn who brought the naïve, eccentric café society girl, Holly Golightly, alive. From her oversized cigarette holder, now considered one of the most iconic images of 20th century American cinema, and her equally oversized black sunglasses to the most famous little black dress of all time, and cat, poor cat, poor slob without a name, Holly Golightly and Audrey Hepburn are forever part of our lives. The film also features Patricia Neal, Buddy Ebsen, Martin Balsam, and Mickey Rooney.

“Breakfast at Tiffany’s” will screen in the historic Osborn/Woods Hall at the Miners Foundry Cultural Center where state of the art projection and sound will be brought in for the audience’s viewing pleasure.

Following the film, dinner will be hosted in the beautiful Stone Hall. The Hall will be decorated just like Holly’s party in the film.  Emily’s Catering and Cakes will serve a delicious spread including quail eggs Benedict with basil hollandaise, mini sweet and savory pastries, mini crab cakes, mini brioche French toast, ricotta and herb stuffed mushrooms crispy chicken & waffle bites with rosemary honey, asparagus with passion fruit aioli, and an assortment of desert bites.  There is something to satisfy both your sweet and savory tooth. Oh, and champagne, how could we forget the champagne! In this case, is it perfectly appropriate to have champagne before breakfast!
