“Ro Sham Bo” Gallery Showing ~ Nevada City Box Office ~ Wednesday through Saturday ~ 12:00pm – 5:00pm ~ Ongoing through April 7, 2012

About the Collection

The Nevada City Box Office is pleased to host “Ro Sham Bo”, a Gallery Showing by Cassandra Reeves.  The Box Office is open to the public Wednesday through Saturday, from 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.  “Ro Sham Bo” (Rock, Paper, Scissors) is a series of collage and assemblage works using paper, fiber, found objects, and elements from nature. The texture and the reflective and translucent nature of the work are best experienced in person.

About the Artist

Cassandra Reeves is a singer, energy healer, shamanic practitioner, and artist. She received her BA degree in Fine Art and Anthropology at California State University Stanislaus. She has shown in a number of Northern California galleries including The Center for Contemporary Art, the Kaneko Gallery at American River College, the Gregory Kondos Gallery at Sacramento City College and Solomon Dubnick Gallery in Sacramento. She has also exhibited her work at CSU Stanislaus in Turlock, the Blueline Gallery in Roseville and PlacerArts in Auburn.

Cassandra’s background in shamanism and healing work is evident in all of her work whether it is a collage/assemblage piece, a simple landscape or a Dia de los Muertos image.

“This particular series began as ‘The River Series’ celebrating the American River Confluence and grew into a much larger body of work implementing collage and assemblage. The entire collection has been made with prayer and infused with healing energy. It is my wish that for the viewer this art will inspire a joyful spirit.”
