The production, under the direction of Yelena Holt brings the original choreography back to life on the stage of the Osborn/Woods Hall. Beautiful sets, costumes, guest professional dancers, and talented soloists and corps make for a delightful evening of entertainment! A no host bar will also be available. Tickets are $12.00 for Students and $15.00 for Adults and available online, in person at Briar Patch Co-Op, and by phone or in person at the Miners Foundry.
Coppelia, based on E.T.A. Hoffmann’s “The Sandman”, tells the story of Swanhilda and Franz, whose relationship is threatened after an eccentric doll-maker successfully creates a doll, Coppelia, with a soul of its own. Franz initially falls in love with Coppelia, and Swanhilda is greatly angered that Franz would be flirting with another girl the day before their wedding. The clever and mischievous Swanhilda hatches a plan to recapture the affections of her sweetheart! Coppelia has been one of the world’s most popular story ballets since its debut with the Paris Opera Ballet in 1870.
Holt Ballet Conservatory offers outstanding classical ballet training for youths through adults by following a comprehensive syllabus endorsed by the Vaganova training method, the American Ballet Academy syllabus and the California State Framework for the arts.
