Night of Giving

December 16, 2017 @ 4:00 PM - 10:00 PM

“Night of Giving” Brings Together Music and Holiday Cheer | A Musical Party Featuring Over 35 Of Nevada County’s Favorite Performers

On Saturday, December 16, Mikail Graham will present the twelfth annual Night of Giving, a benefit for Hospitality House featuring over 35 favorite local musicians. Performers at the event, which will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. in both halls at the historic Miners Foundry in Nevada City, include local favorites such as The Deadbeats, Lolo Gervais, Paul Kamm & Eleanore MacDonald, Beaucoup Chapeaux, Cassidy Joy, Cousin Cricket, Shay Dillion, Kimberly Bass, Barwick & Siegfried with special guest Homer Wills, Rob & Christine Bonner, Nevada Union Choir, Sierra Capella, Golden Shoulders, Brett Shady, Bob Woods, and many more.
“Nevada County is a cultural hotbed of musical talent and I wanted the community to meet local musicians and sample their music all in one place. And we all want to help Hospitality House get people back on their feet,” explains Graham. KVMR deejays will announce the acts and Hospitality House guests will talk about their experience with homelessness.

Dinner at the Night of Giving, prepared by students and graduates of the Hospitality House Serves culinary job-skills training program, will be available for $5, and there will be a no-host bar. Event-goers can also check out exclusive local jewelry and musical instruments at a silent auction table and shop for curated vintage items at a special Bread & Roses Thrift corner set up at the Foundry for the evening.

Suggested donation for tickets is $20, but no one will be turned away. Children ages 12 and younger are free. Every donation given at the event, beyond the ticket purchase, will be tripled by anonymous donors. So $100 becomes $300 to benefit the shelter. The performances will also be live-streamed on Facebook throughout the evening.

Tickets are available at Bread & Roses Thrift, BriarPatch Community Co-Op,hhshelter.org and at the door. Generous sponsors include Coldwell Banker Grass Roots, BriarPatch, Nevada County Association of Realtors, YubaNet, SPD Markets, InterWest Insurance Services agent Chip Arenchild, Western Sierra Medical and Network Real Estate agents Michelle Homan and Dana Frederick and Caliber Collision.

For over a decade Mikail Graham has presented an evening of top local talent to help spread the good news about all the many services Hospitality House offers to homeless residents of Nevada County. Musician/producer Graham is a third-generation native of Nevada City and a founding broadcaster of KVMR. He has been coordinating musical events since the early 1970s and is currently the house sound manager for The Center For The Arts and a member of the Hospitality House Board of Directors.
