Artist’s Statement
My work is a study of nature. I translate what I see into different shapes and colors, creating patterns and textures that are different and yet similar to what I watch around me. For some time I have been fascinated by light and shadows and how boundaries of objects seem to disappear in certain qualities of light. It is as if a certain situation allows a boundary of separation to dissolve and further allows an exchange and communication with the surrounding matter to happen. My paintings explore what happens at these boundaries and attempt to capture the essence of the relationships between things. Color is not always clearly delineated between subject and object and often dances between the two. It is in this flow of light and texture that I gather my inspiration.
