The Miners Foundry and Sierra Stages will present Lettice and Lovage on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at the Miners Foundry. Lettice and Lovage will be the third installment of Theater By The Book, a series of informal play readings for the community. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. with the show beginning at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free with a $10 suggested donation. Refreshments will be available for purchase along with a no host bar.
Lettice and Lovage is a delightful comedy by Peter Shaffer, author of Amadeus and Equus. Lettice Douffet, a docent at Fustian House, one of England’s most boring historical homes, decides to liven up her tours by inventing wildly theatrical “histories”, thus coming to the attention of Lotte Schoen, an inspector of the Preservation Trust. The meeting of the imaginative Lettice and the seemingly conventional Lotte leads to a most unconventional – and riotous – friendship.
The Mission of the Miners Foundry Cultural Center is to preserve, enhance and utilize the historic Miners Foundry for cultural, educational and social activities. The Foundry is a non profit organization, pleased to support other area non profits such as Sierra Stages Community Theatre.
