Youth Theatre Classes with Dinah Smith ~ Wednesdays ~ April 10 – May 22, 2013

Dinah Smith and the Miners Foundry Cultural Center will present Youth Theatre Classes (ages 9-13) on Wednesdays from April 10 through May 22, 2013.  Two classes will be offered in a series of seven sessions.  Acting for Young Actors will be offered from 3:45 – 4:45 p.m. and Musical Theatre: Acting, Singing, Dancingwill be offered from 4:45 – 5:30 p.m.  Cost is $85.00 for one class or $150.00 for both.  For more information and to register, please call (858) 354-3241 or email Dinah at [email protected] .

In both classes, students will explore the Principles of Good Acting and Character Development, play theatre games, and learn audition tips and techniques.  In Acting, students will also work scenes and monologues, create and perform improve scenes from fairy tales, cartoons and stories, and develop mini plays from classic tales and poetry.  In Musical Theatre, students will also learn and perform songs and choreography from Broadway Musicals and movies.  The last class will include a fun and entertaining Showcase for family and friends.

Dinah Smith

Dinah Smith (Teacher / Coach, Choreographer / Director, Actor)
With a BA in Theatre and a Masters in Elementary Education, Dinah has been involved in the entertainment industry since early 1970 as a teacher, director, choreographer, and performer.  Locally, she was choreographer and stage manager for the highly-acclaimed production of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to The Forum in summer of 2011 and for Paul Emery’s production of Our Town in the fall of 2012.  She has appeared in Legacy’s productions of A Christmas Story as Miss Shields in 2011 and most recently as Miss Adams in Miracle on 34th Street.  She teachers at Center Stage Dance and directed Tom Sawyer and 12th Night at Yuba River Charter School.

 

 

The Mission of the Miners Foundry Cultural Center is to preserve, enhance and utilize the historic Miners Foundry for cultural, educational and social activities.   The Foundry is a non profit organization.
