DANK and The Miners Foundry Cultural Center are pleased to announce a collaborative fine art space, DANK at Osborn/Woods Gallery, launching in January 2015. The ten local artists who were responsible for The DANK Inaugural pop up gallery on Spring Street last July are working with The Miners Foundry Cultural Center to activate a new creative and social space in the foundry building.
DANK at Osborn/Woods will be open to the public with art installations and cultural programming throughout year. Their first event will be as an art venue during the Wild and Scenic Film Festival January 15-18.

The artists and The Foundry are excited to continue the legacy of Davis Osborn and Charles Woods, the artistic visionaries who were largely responsible for establishing both The Foundry and Nevada City as important historic and creative destinations.
Miners Foundry Executive Director Gretchen Bond says “This is a perfect next step for the Miners Foundry. We will create a rich, cultural experience for the people of Nevada County by creating a gathering place where the community can relax and share their own experiences while enjoying a curated space. ”

Plans for casual art salons, screenings, performance pieces, visiting artist lectures and evenings of cocktails and creative brainstorming events are also in the works. “So many people came to us with ideas during our summer pop-up event and we found ourselves craving different kinds of ongoing engagement through visual arts. Working within the walls of this gorgeous building and its inspiring history, we’ve found a great home for our collective,” says artist Sheila Cameron.
“We really hope that DANK inspires other artists in the community in their own collaborative efforts, and we look forward to sharing our events, ideas and work throughout the year,” adds Roseanne Burke.

About DANK

Kathy Frey
DANK is an artists’ collective in Nevada City, California.
It was founded in 2013 by ten artists interested in post-Great Recession social issues, the rural ideal, and an anti-urban aesthetic grounded in the legacy of the California Gold Rush.
The name DANK comes from the wet wood smell that permeates Nevada City, a town situated on the banks of Deer Creek.
It’s also a nod to one of the area’s premier exports, cannabis.
And it’s an acronym; Do Art Now Kids.
