Don Carlos ~ “Harvest Time”
On Saturday, May 24, 2014, the Miners Foundry will be filled with the music of legendary reggae artist Don Carlos (with Dub Vision), and the Brazilian burst of creative soul and undeniable beats that is Boca do Rio.
Born and raised in the Jamaican district notoriously known as Waterhouse, Don Carlos started his singing career in 1973, as one of the original members of the roots vocal group Black Uhuru. Don played a prominent role in the recordings of the highly acclaimed Love Crisis for Prince Jammy in 1977.
The San Francisco band Boca do Rio takes its name from the Portuguese “mouth of the river”, the place where myriad streams and sources converge into one powerful, flowing, physical energy. Kevin Welch has assembled a superb team of Brazilian and American musicians to give voice to his vibrant compositions.
Doors open at 8:00 p.m. and the music also starts at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $25.00 in Advance and $30.00 at the Door. Tickets are available online or in person at Briar Patch Co-Op.
