The Miners Foundry Cultural Center and Gold Dust Collective present One Fine Day: The Nevada City Wedding Event of 2014, SUNDAY, April 6, at the historic Foundry in downtown Nevada City, from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m.   Tickets are $7.00 and are available online, at the door, or at Briar Patch Co-Op.

Inspired by today’s non-traditional brides looking for unique and cool wedding ideas, One Fine Day is an experiential showcase featuring many of Northern California’s finest wedding purveyors and professionals. From visionary wedding planners and vintage letter press printers to florists specializing in seasonal and local flowers and pâtissiers with an array of deserts including cakes, pies and cookies to sample, brides will find everything they need to ensure they stand out from the crowd on their special day.

“We are finding today’s brides are rebelling from the “more is more” mantra that guided wedding design in years past, they are looking for ways to make their day an authentic and soulful representation of themselves,” explains Carrie Hawthorne, co-owner of Gold Dust Collective, a boutique event and wedding planner.  “They are choosing design that reflects their real lives and quality in the details over garish opulence. They are choosing local and organic over fussy food, DJ’s who play actual records, vintage photo booths, creative cocktails, and editorial photographs.  It’s more relaxed and real.”

Kat Kress, the booking coordinator at the Miners Foundry agrees, wedding rentals of the historic building have steadily increased over the last year with nearly forty-five weddings planned for 2014.  Many of the brides are traveling as far as the Bay Area and Southern California in search of a venue and town that can offer not only the bride and groom, but their guests, an unforgettable weekend.  The Foundry with its beautiful stone walls and hand hewn timber beams is the perfect blank slate to create the popular rustic chic weddings that are in such high demand.  And Nevada City with its historic charm and easy access to the beautiful natural landscape is the perfect weekend getaway.  The press is taking notice as well, last year, weddings at the Miners Foundry were featured on MarthaStewartWeddings.com and in Real Weddings Magazine.

“Though most of our couples are from out of the area, there is usually some connection to Nevada City. This is a place that gets stuck in your heart. It doesn’t hurt that we have a little something to offer everyone- both wild and refined,” says Erin Lewis, co-owner of Gold Dust Collective.  “We find that couples are inviting their guests to make a long weekend of it, outlining the outdoor attractions and activities in town.”

This year’s inaugural event also has ideas and inspiration for same sex unions,   live music from jazz quartet Hot Club and DJ’s Shocks & Struts spinning only vinyl during the live fashion show, and a full-bar with signature specialty drinks.

One Fine Day creates a fun cocktail party environment, where a bride and entourage, can learn hair and makeup tips and tricks, meet and engage with vendors, sample food and drink, and above all gather inspiration to throw a party of a lifetime.
