“… I can close my eyes and go back 30 years and have it be every bit as rewarding and satisfying. Dark Star is an amazingly legitimate representation of the Dead.” ~ Dan Healy, Grateful Dead Sound Engineer, 1966-1994
Dark Star Orchestra performances are built off the Grateful Dead’s extensive catalog. On any given night, the band will perform a show based on a set list from the Grateful Dead’s 30 years of extensive touring or use the catalog to program a unique set list for the show. DSO offers a continually evolving artistic outlet within the Grateful Dead musical canon. Honoring both the band and their fans, Dark Star Orchestra’s members seek out the unique style and sound of each era while simultaneously offering their own informed improvisations. DSO highlights much more than the sound of the Grateful Dead, they truly encapsulate the energy and the experience. It’s a feeling that grabs listeners and takes over with contagious energy, presenting a complete experience and consistent show quality.
