New Floor Campaign Check In with Youngs Carpet One

We stopped by Youngs Carpet One today to visit with owner Randy Young and his son Morgan.  Youngs Carpet has been instrumental in helping the Foundry select the new wood floor for the Osborn and Woods Hall.  With their guidance we have gone with a Kahrs Activity Floor.  The floor is approved for the global standard for sports floors, DIN, and it is used at major sporting events, such as FISAF World and European Aerobics Championships.  Sounds like it will be perfect for dancing at the Foundry!  In addition to installing the floor, Youngs will seal and level the existing concrete floor and install a moisture barrier.

A new wooden floor is needed in the Osborn/Woods Hall because the existing floor is rough, industrial concrete left over from the time when the room was a machine shop.  It is also uncomfortable for standing and dancing.  A new floor will beautify the hall – lightening the room, improve acoustics, attract more musical events that involve dancing, provide an elegant space for dinner dances, night-club-style events and dinner theatre, expand rental business to include more daytime uses such as exercise or dance classes and the floor will fulfill the vision outlined in Miners Foundry Strategic Plan: Become a first-class venue!

There is still time to donate to the New Floor Campaign.  Donate $1,000 and your name will be imprinted on the floor for generations to see and enjoy. For more information on how you can help to protect and preserve this historic treasure and community asset click here.
