A Life in the Theatre

Sierra Stages and the Miners Foundry are pleased to present the May installment of Theater By the Book on May 11, 2022 in the Osborn/Woods hall at the Miners Foundry.  Doors open at 6:00 p.m., the Theatre opens at 6:30 p.m. and the Performance begins at 7:00 p.m.  The Miners Foundry offers a full bar with snacks available for purchase. Outside food may be brought into the venue but no outside alcohol or glass.

A Life in the Theatre, by David Mamet is a play reading directed by Jeffrey Mason with Paul Micsan and Chase Coney.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning author of “Glengarry Glen Ross” and “Speed-The-Plow” takes us into the lives of two actors: John, young and rising into the first flush of his success; and Robert, older, anxious, and beginning to wane.  In a series of slow, spare exchanges, we see the estrangement of youth from age and the wider, inevitable and endless cycle of life, in and out of the theatre.

Reader’s Theater

BUY TICKETS

The Miners Foundry will present Tim O’Connor’s Reader’s Theater on Sunday, August 26, 2018.  Reader’s Theater has been called Story Time for Grown Ups, or Theatre of the Mind, and gained popularity during World War II when large stage plays were too expensive to produce.  Using minimal props, the actor and your imagination illustrate the story.  Directed by Gaylie Bell-Stewart, the show will offer the best short stories of Bret Harte, and feature performances by Shawnna Frazer, Bruce Kelly, Paul Micsan, and John Gardiner.

Doors open at 3:30 p.m. and the show begins at 4:00 p.m.  Tickets are $10 and are available online, in person or by phone at the Miners Foundry, and in person at Briar Patch C0-Op.  Ticketing fees do not apply for purchases made through the Miners Foundry Box Office.

“Art”

BUY TICKETS

Sierra Stages and Miners Foundry will present Arton Wednesday, October 21, 2015.  “Art”, written by Yasmina Reza, directed by Jeffrey Mason, and featuring Paul Micsan, T.E. Wolfe, and Scott Young, is the next installment of Theater By the Book, a series of informal play readings for the community.

Three longtime friends find their friendship challenged when one of them indulges a penchant for modern art by spending a fortune on a very expensive – and very white – painting.  The purchase prompts the friends to explore – and disagree – about what constitutes “art”.

Doors open at 7:00 p.m. and the performance begins at 7:30 p.m.  Tickets are a $10 suggested donation, and are available online, in person or by phone at the Miners Foundry, at Briar Patch Co-Op or at the door.  Ticketing fees may apply.
