Power of 12 ~ 20th Anniversary Party ~ Sunday, November 4, 2012 ~ 5:30 p.m. Doors / 7:00 p.m. Music ~ $18.00 Advance / $22.00 Door

Power of 12

Power of 12, Nevada County’s home grown R&B band, will be presenting a 20th anniversary concert in conjunction with The Miners Foundry on Sunday, November 4th, from 7 to 10 pm. The doors will open at 5:30, and dinner will be available from Anya’s Catering.  Tickets are $18.00 in advance and $22.00 at the door.  Tickets are available online, by phone or in person at the Nevada City Box Office (530) 265-5040, or in person at Briar Patch Co-Op.

The Foundry was the site of the band’s first concert in October of 1992, when 16 local musicians came together to play for the benefit of Kent Smith, candidate for the State Senate, and the Green Party. Known as The Tribe at first, the band continued  to lay down some of the hottest R&B and rock dance grooves around for the last two decades. The band eventually pared down to an even dozen musicians, and recorded a CD in 1998 under the name of Real George at Flying Whale Studios. Over the years the personnel of the band has changed, but a core of 6 original members remains. The group updated its name to Power of 12 several years ago, and the music just keeps getting better.

As part of the 20th anniversary, the band will be bringing up on the stage numerous former members of the band, such as Bob Scarlett, Jim Thornton, Mike Bankston, and Joni Ivazes to join in on some special songs from the past and present. Pictures, posters, and a video of the band’s first show will be presented as well. Come on down and help us celebrate!
