Hungry Games II

The Miners Foundry Cultural Center is not presenting this event.  Please contact the organizer with any questions.

It’s time for second helpings!

The Nevada City Rotary Club is once again presenting “The Hungry GamesII” a major fundraiser dedicated to food, wine and the fine art of gourmet cooking on Sunday, March 15, from 5 to 8 pm in the Miners Foundry.

This year, Nevada City’s hugely popular Ham Stand takes over cooking duties following last year’s first place win among competing restaurants. Owner/chef Jason Jillson promises four different gourmet tastings from around the world and will compete with Rene, his own sous chef. Three wineries will offer pairing tastings to go with the food.

Following up on last year’s huge success, the highlights will include a “winner-take-all” raffle for $1,000 worth of $100 meals from 10 of the top regional restaurants.

There will be a silent auction of a variety of items along with cookbooks, kitchen and other items for sale. Chefs will be discussing their craft and the Sgt. Funky band will provide live music for listening and dancing, all in a fun and exciting setting.
All proceeds from the event will go to help fund the many Nevada City Rotary community service initiatives. The club sponsors local youth programs such as Girls Who Code, an afterschool program that encourages and trains middle school girls for careers in technology, youth leadership camps, academic scholarships, and high school music and speech competitions, along with community service forums presented by community radio station KVMR.

Rotary members also fly to Mexico’s rural Southern Baja every year to perform health screening on local students and adults. The Club also participates in Rotary International clean water projects and polio eradication.

General admission is $25 in advance, $30 at the door, which includes tastings from the chef competition and local wineries. Event tickets can be obtained at Inner Sanctum, Book Seller, Harmony Books and from your Rotary friends.

Raffle tickets to win $1,000 in restaurant gift certificates are $100 and will include one general admission ticket. The raffle will be limited to 100 tickets. Raffle tickets can be obtained at Inner Sanctum and from Nevada City Rotarians. Raffle tickets will also be available at the event. Raffle winner does not have to be present to win.

Adventures & Wine

Nevada City Rotary is hosting its 2015 Adventures & Wine Auction – A Party with a Purpose on Friday, October 23 once again at the beautiful, historic Miners Foundry in Nevada City. Doors open at 5:30pm with music by Dream & the Dreamer and auction bidding.  The silent and live auctions feature resort packages, art, jewelry, professional services, household goods, and unforgettable experiences donated by members of the Nevada City Rotary Club and our local business community.

All proceeds benefit scholarships and other youth programs sponsored by Nevada City Rotary Club.  “Young people are the focus of our community efforts and it’s rewarding to hear our youth personally share how our endeavors have impacted their lives,” says Dave Bunje, President, Nevada City Rotary Club.

This is a great evening of wine, food, fun, and charitable auctioneering.  Talented auctioneers Jay Cooper and Allison Kirk will keep the event moving and make for a fun and profitable time for all.

Tickets are $12 in advance or $20 at the door. Ticket price includes dessert and a no-host bar, fun raffles, access to bidding the live and silent auctions and music by Dream & the Dreamer. A variety of wines, brews, and food prepared by local vendors will be available for purchase.

Join the fun and make a difference. Your purchase may send a local youth to leadership camp, add to scholarship funds and much more. It will be the best Party with a Purpose of the year!

Tickets available at Harmony Books, The Bookseller, Briar Patch or from Nevada City Rotarians.
