The Polish Ambassador

The Miners Foundry is pleased to present The Polish Ambassador and The Diplomatic Scandal on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, with special guest Grandfather Gold.  Pulling from over a decade of musical styles and nuances explored by TPA, combined with the lush instrumentation of 3 seasoned instrumentalists, The Polish Ambassador and The Diplomatic Scandal are closing the gaps between live and electronic music.  Doors open at 7:00 p.m. and the show starts at 8:00 p.m.  Standing / dancing show with limited seating.  Tickets are $27 in Advance and $32 at the Door.  Tickets may be purchased online, by phone, or in person at the Miners Foundry Box Office, or in person at Briar Patch Co-Op.  Ticketing fees don’t apply for purchases made by phone or in person at the Miners Foundry Box Office.

After a cornucopia of albums and countless gigs around the world, The Polish Ambassador has docked the mothership outside the embassy; a fitting stop for a Diplomatic Scandal to unfold.  An amalgamation of funky beats, retro synths, and live instrumentation make up the bulk of this controversial saga.  David Sugalski aka The Polish Ambassador first happened across special agent Ryan Herr (guitar, percussion) in 2015 while traveling the high terrain of Colorado.  After a few years of scheming, planning and interstellar travels, the 2 comrades chanced upon special agents Tyson Leonard (violin) and Jesse James (sax and flute).  Before long, the 4 intergalactic men of mystery had synthesized their scandalous affairs into musical form.  Pulling from over a decade of musical styles and nuances explored by TPA, combined with the lush instrumentation of 3 seasoned instrumentalists, The Polish Ambassador and The Diplomatic Scandal are closing the gaps between live and electronic music.

Grandfather Gold is a musical journey across the mountains and deserts of our hearts and minds.  A relic from the old west, a 1960’s folk poet, and contemporary singer-songwriter extraordinaire all-in-one, Grandfather Gold kicks down genre barriers and emphatically opens up Jumpsuit Records to new artistic visions.

Poranguí in Concert: Album Release Celebration!
With Special Guests Ryan Herr and Shamans Dream

Join us for this special journey of ancestral rhythm, dance, sound healing, and musical activation!

We are excited to be celebrating the official release of Poranguí’s self-titled live album on March 1. When we thought about where we would love to be for the official launch, we knew we had to come get down with the Nevada City tribe!

This live solo album is a sonic prayer carefully woven together from Poranguí’s improvised performances at Lightning in a Bottle Festival and Unify Festival. These songs are infused with the energy of a living and breathing dance floor that along with Spirit helped him to channel this humble offering into being.

We will open the evening with a mini Dance.Sing.Play “playshop” with Poranguí to explore our bodies as rhythmic instruments and activate our voices.

Ryan Herr will open the roads musically and drop us all into our embodied journey for the evening.

Then we’ll drop in to deep earthy grooves as Poranguí sonically guides us through waves of ecstatic movement and blissful stillness, ending in a meditative sound soak. His partner, Ashley Klein, will sprinkle the musical set with some vocal guidance, visualizations, and meditations inviting our prayers and intentions into our dance.

Dirtwire:

Dirtwire stands poised between ancient Mother Earth and modern technology, a blend of ethnomusicology and the psychedelic trance state, gut-bucket delta blues and what the band variously dubs “back-porch space cowboy blues, swamptronica, and electro-twang.” It’s a sound informed by Dirtwire’s travels and performances around the globe, where East meets West and North joins South. From the favelas in Brazil, Femi Kuti’s Shrine in Lagos, Tokyo’s bluegrass clubs, Ayahuasca ceremonies in Central America, Gamelan performances in Bali, desert festivals in the Australian Outback, and the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s modernized new capital Astana, the band spreads its message by building bridges across musical cultures in their own unique way. Dirtwire plays an array of instruments both ancient and modern, including West African kamale ngonis, jaw harps, space fiddles, whamola basses, Rickenbacher electric 12 string guitars, bowed Banjos and mouth harps from around the globe, all interwoven into modern laptop beat creation. Hailing from the underground west coast electronic bass music scene Dirtwire finds itself at the forefront of experimental electronic music production mixing in their wide array of world instruments with sampled beats and 808’s. Dirtwire’s live shows are a communal psychedelic journey, which have been channeled into their latest full-length effort, Electric River.
