Youth Summer Theatre Camp ~ June 17 – 21, 2013 ~ 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. ~ $195.00
Dinah Smith and the Miners Foundry Cultural Center will present a Youth Summer Theatre Camp for students ages 8-13. The camp will run June 17 through June 21, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Cost is $195.00 (includes all materials such as scripts and handouts). Class size is limited to maximize opportunities for individual attention. The class will focus on Acting & Musical Theatre for Young Actors including Acting, Singing, Dancing, Improv, Theatre Games, plus a Show Case Performance on the last day of an original Musical. Students will:
~ Explore the Principles of Good Acting and Character Development
~ Play Theatre Games & Practice Improv Techniques
~ Learn Audition Tips & Techniques
~ Learn & Perform Songs & Choreography from Broadway Musicals and Movies
~ Help Create & Develop an original script that ties together several musical theatre songs/dances learned in class. Then perform the Musical Play in a Show Case performance at the end of the week!

Dinah Smith
With a BA in Theatre and a Masters in Elementary Education, Dinah has been involved in the Entertainment Industry since early 1970 as a teacher, director, choreographer, and performer. Locally, she was choreographer and stage manager for the highly acclaimed production of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, and for Paul Emery’s production of Our Town. She has choreographed and appeared in Legacy’s production of A Christmas Story in 2011 and as Miss Adams in Miracle on 34th Street. She teaches at Center Stage Dance, and directed Tom Sawyer and 12th Night at Yuba River Charter School. Most recently, Dinah performed 10 different roles in the CATS production of Journey to the West at the Nevada Theatre.
The Mission of the Miners Foundry Cultural Center is to preserve, enhance and utilize the historic Miners Foundry for cultural, educational and social activities. The Foundry is a non profit organization, pleased to support the Nevada County theatre community.
