The Deadbeats formed in the summer of 1994 on the notion they could pull off some reasonable Grateful Dead covers. Soon it was apparent the band was onto something – a certain indefinable sound that captures the essence of a Dead show. Twenty-two years later the Deadbeats continue to evolve with original members Tom Menig , Eric Menig and Gary Campus being joined by Rob Kopp (drums), Glen Tucker (keyboards) and newest member Peter Wilson (guitar) for this Mardi Gras journey into the music of one of America’s most enduring bands.
Sgt. Funky is a six-person rock band specializing in playing the songs “You Forgot You Liked,” everything from the Beatles and the British Invasion, Eric Clapton, the Zombies, the Yardbirds and Van Morrison to the B-52s and the Go-Gos. Drawing from a master list of more than 100 tunes, they play both r&b ballads and high energy dance tunes with a little psychedelic thrown in for fun. The band has been together for eight years and recently added a female bassist, a singer and two dancers to the core band of experienced musicians you can often spot playing with a number of other local bands. Sgt. Funky audiences love the energy, enthusiasm, and humor the band brings to all its performances!
