Sierra Stages and the Miners Foundry Cultural Center are pleased to present the October installment of Theater By the Book on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 in the Stone Hall at the Miners Foundry. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., the Theatre opens at 6:30 p.m. and the Performance begins at 7:00 p.m. The Miners Foundry offers a full bar with snacks available for purchase. Outside food may be brought into the venue but no outside alcohol or glass.
Book of Liz is a play written by David Sedaris and Amy Sedaris, and directed by Casey Burke.
Straight from the delightfully diabolical minds of siblings David and Amy Sedaris, Book of Liz is a freewheeling farce that follows the life of Sister Elizabeth Donderstock as she explores the world beyond Clusterhaven, her Squeamish religious community. After a life making cheeseballs—traditional and smoky!—Liz takes a pilgrimage into the unknown until she finds a new home waiting tables at Plymouth Crock, a restaurant run almost entirely by recovering alcoholics. Meanwhile, her old Squeamish community is on the verge of collapse as they struggle to replicate Liz’s cheeseballs. Will Liz return to help? And why is she sweating so much? Theater By the Book
2023 Welcomes the 11th season of Theater by the Book! Theater by the Book is a series of informal play readings presented by Sierra Stages and the Miners Foundry Cultural Center. Theater By the Book is presented several times a year and features a wide range of works. The director and actors come together and rehearse for a short time; there is no scenery, no costumes, and minimal staging. Check out Theater By the Book and expand your theatrical horizons!
