Sierra Stages and the Miners Foundry will present Shadow Dance on Wednesday, April 13, 2016. Shadow Dance, written and directed by Leslie Ann Rivers, is the next installment of Theater By the Book, a series of informal play readings for the community.
On a spring evening, three Americans and their Italian guide slip through the dusk to descend into an ancient tomb deep under the wheat fields of Tuscany. Olivia, the art professor, has come to lose herself in the magic of the tomb’s art; her assistant, Chris, and his fiancee, Annie wrangle over their upcoming wedding despite their best intentions; and Hermano, the moonlighting carabiniero, has hopes which survive even the wife and six bambini at home. The tomb delivers up more than ghosts as “research” blossoms into comic chaos, and the characters discover and embrace life’s moments of joy.
Doors open at 7:00 p.m. and the performance begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are a $10 suggested donation, and are available online, in person or by phone at the Miners Foundry, or at the door.
