Sierra Harvest Soup Night

April 6, 2016 @ 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM

$10

Do you love fresh, locally grown food?  Join us for dinner and enjoy a hearty soup with our community of all ages.  Meet local farmers who offer direct sales of vegetables, flowers, meat, dairy products and more.  You could also win a cooking class at the Briar Patch!  Adult admission is $10 for adults – kids eat for free! Bring your own bowls and spoons.

Sierra Harvest is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating, inspiring, and connecting western Nevada County’s families to fresh, local, seasonal foods. We accomplish this by; offering farm to school programming, supporting farm fresh school meals, mentoring aspiring farmers and gardeners, celebrating our local food community and advocating for just, sustainable food systems.

Featured farms at this event include:

Fresh Starts Organic Farm offers vegetable, flower, herb and perennial seedlings, grown in Nevada City. Fresh Starts is CCOF certified organic since February 2014, and previously registered organic with CDFA beginning April, 2011. A member of Nevada County Grown since its inception, Fresh Starts sells privately at the farm by appointment, at the Miner’s Foundry Mother’s Day Plant Sale, BriarPatch, Peaceful Valley and Kurt’s Garden.
Fresh Starts will have plants available at Soup Night! Look for lettuce, onions, chard, kale, leeks and so much more! Cash or check, no credit cards please.

Mountain Bounty Farm is the longest running CSA farm in Nevada County, started in 1997 by John Tecklin and collaboratively managed by their talented 8 person crew with 5 seasonal interns. They provide a year-round organic veggie share, and two seasons of organic fruit and flower shares. At Soup Night, learn how to sign up for the final 2 months of their Winter Veggie Share, and also for their bountiful summer veggies, fruits, and flower shares.
