The band made their debut at Nevada City’s renowned Mad Dogs and Englishmen Pub on August 4, 1994. Filled to capacity with crowds lining up outside, they knew they were on to something — a certain indefinable sound and feel that captures the essence of a Grateful Dead concert. The Deadbeats get that the music of the Grateful Dead is best live.

The Deadbeats
They started Jerry Bash in 1996 as a free concert in Pioneer Park. Over the years, band members have rotated but the core group continues with great shows and big crowds.
The current lineup includes Tom Menig, Gary Campus, Eric Menig, Rob Kopp, Glenn Tucker, Peter Wilson, and Jenn Knapp.
Grateful Riders featuring Bob Woods
The New Riders of the Purple Sage (NRPS) formed in 1969 and included John “Marmaduke” Dawson, David Nelson, Mickey Hart and and Jerry Garcia on pedal steel.
By 1970, they were touring as part of a program called “An Evening With The Grateful Dead” — an endeavor which sometimes kept Garcia on stage for four to five hours nightly between the two bands.
They are best known for songs like “Panama Red,” “Henry,” “The Glendale Train” and “Lonesome LA Cowboy.” The Grateful Riders is a loving tribute to NRPS, The Byrds and other rock-meets-country favorites along with a few original songs and led by Nevada County’s favorite Bob Woods!
Grateful Riders are Bob Woods (guitar), Skip Alan Smith (drums), “The” Brett Cole (bass), Joe Ybarra (pedal steel), and Michael Rock (guitar, vocals).
