About

The Miners Foundry and Paul Emery Music are pleased to present Love Train with special guest Elevation (feat. J Silk) on Tuesday, December 31, 9:00pm, at our annual New Year’s Eve Bash.

Love Train is a 6-piece dance band that taps into the same gold vein of 60’s soul and R&B as the Blues Bros and the Commitments. If you attended the Miners Foundry New Year’s Eve Bash in 2018, you will remember them as the opening act. Our audience had so much fun with them, we brought them back for 2019!

Belting out soul hits from Wilson Picket, Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, the O’Jays, Sam and Dave, Stevie Wonder and many more, Love Train delivers a powerfully funky vintage soul groove that WILL get you dancing!

Guitarist/vocalist Jonathan Lyerly, and bassist/vocalist Karel Hendee are joined by ace drummer Tim Bulkley, and backed by a stellar 3-piece horn section (Phil Kember, John DeBoer and Jerry Grant) who recently appeared with the Temptations!

Opening the show will be local funk favorite Elevation featuring J Silk, a high energy funk/rock band from Northern California. Their original music was born in the clubs and bars of Grass Valley, Nevada City and Auburn. They are a jam band and a dance band with an emphasis on heavy bass lines and funky grooves. The smooth vocals of front man J Silk and singer Brynn Farwell give Elevation a fresh sound that’s both old school and modern. They released their first album in October, 2018,  “ELEVATION featuring J Silk,” the tracks were recorded live in the studio to keep that ‘live’ feel and unique sound. The bands motto…ELEVATE YOUR FUNKIN’ LIFE! Currently the band is taking time to work on their second album, release sometime 2019.

Honeysweet is a Soul, R&B, Funk, Groove, and Jazz quintet that resides in Nevada City and Grass Valley, in the Sierra foothills of California. Upon their formation, they already had a large local following and they continue to collect dedicated fans while rocking parties and venues around Northern California.

The Whiskerman (Oakland) The youngest of three brothers and the son of two musicians, Graham Patzner didn’t have much choice. Starting on piano at age five and then moving on to violin, trumpet and guitar, the Whiskerman singer and front-man has cultivated a unique sound that is hard to pinpoint. His voice ranges from smoky to soaring, while his songs span a wide array of moods and genres, yet always remain soulful. Behind him is a tight band that includes brother Lewis Patzner (Judgement Day, Devotionals) on cello, Will Lawrence on bass, Nick Cobbett on drums, and Charles Lloyd (Cash Pony) on guitar and sitar. Collectively they form Whiskerman, and they are quickly becoming a force in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The Lampshade Tango (Auburn): Andy Z and Cap’n Mike came from the frozen lakes and snow-covered roads of Michigan and settled in gold country to forge their prosperity. They joined forces with the Kitchen, a native to these hills, on a special Halloween night at an Argentinian Tango Ball. The rest is illustrious, speculative history.

There’s an entire world of music out there to love and explore. Each of us brings something a little different to the mix. We love playing in many different styles and enjoy meeting and sharing sounds and ideas with musicians and music lovers everywhere.
