The Foundry Sings! “Rolling in the Deep”

The Foundry Sings! “Rolling in the Deep”

Wednesday, June 12, 2024

The rafters of the 160 year old Stone Hall at the Miners Foundry Cultural Center will ring on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.! Doors open at 5:30 pm and the singing begins at 6:00 pm. This month, we’re giving voice to “Adele’s” mega hit “Rolling in the Deep!”

Rod Baggett, choral conductor at Nevada Union High School along with vocalist Robbie Merchant will lead voices unified in song. Supported by the precision guitar playing of Jonathan Meredith and Tim Yamauchi.

This unique countywide experience aims to gather people of all ages and singing levels under one roof to share in the power of song. The Foundry Sings is inspired by the popular Choir! Choir! Choir!, a weekly drop-in singing event based in Toronto, Canada, which has attracted professional musicians such as Patti Smith, David Byrne and Rufus Wainwright to sing with the group.

We are grateful for the generosity of our business sponsor, Dignity Health and their belief in the health benefits of singing!

When attendees arrive, they are given a lyric sheet to the chosen song. Attendees do not need to know how to read music, Rod Baggett and Jonathan Meredith will teach vocal arrangement and lead practices. At the end of the evening everyone joins together to sing the song. The performance is filmed and posted on YouTube. Everyone has a grand time and goes home feeling great!

Miners Foundry Cultural Center
The quarterly event is a fundraiser for the Miners Foundry Cultural Center’s building improvement fund. Special thanks to Dignity Health for sponsoring this event. For nearly 160 years the historic Miners Foundry Cultural Center has been the hub of arts, culture, and community in Nevada County. Each year over 400 events are hosted in our beautiful halls including signature events presented by the Miners Foundry. Individually, these events represent how diverse the arts are in our community, and together they make up the rich cultural fabric we have come to enjoy for generations. Membership supports ongoing events at Miners Foundry such as these and many others.
