On the heels of a tragedy, young Leo finds a prickly solace in the West Village apartment of his 91-year old grandmother. Sweet but never treacly, 4000 Miles covers the ground between generations through the experiences of an old woman who lived – and still lives – her life with candor and vibrancy. Written by Amy Herzog, 4000 Miles was a finalist for the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and a winner of the 2023 Obie Award for Best New American Play.

Theater By the Book is presented several times a year and features a wide range of works. The director and actors come together and rehearse for a short time; there is no scenery, no costumes, and minimal staging. Check out Theater By the Book and expand your theatrical horizons!
